What's new in fanfic?
April 6, 2013
Just one story to add tonight. Part three of the Burned:1999 saga by John Duggan has been added. I look forward to adding more. There are other stories coming soon. I have also added a link to the website for Alpha 2014 in the UK. It is unlikely I will have the chance to attend unless Michael wins the lottery between now and then, (Get busy on that, will you, love?)

I'm pleased to announce a new contributor to the website and the availability of a new fanzine. John Duggan has been creating lower decks stories about a character of his creation by the name of Max Murphy. Burned: 1999 connects in to the Energized Universe but there will be additional origin stories and prequels so these stories will reside in their own section of the fanfic site as well as be incorporated in the Energized timeline. John would love questions and comments, 'as long as people are nice about it'. Please welcome John to our fanfic family. I know you'll enjoy the great voice Max has.
We are also announcing the availability of a new fanzine that will be both paper and electronic. Click here for additional details. This offer is available for a limited period of time, so don't delay.

Wow, it’s been a long time since I’ve updated the website. Thank you all for your patience, as well as your gentle prodding. I do have more stories to tell. I just need to find time to do it. There’s a little something for everyone here. Two are standalone stories. Conspiracy to Live shows our Alphans insisting that their lives turn in a new direction. Payload takes place prior to Breakaway and involves Victor and making our beloved Eagles fly. It was originally published in the zine sold at the Journey to Where convention in Austin, TX in 2010. Murmurs of Silence, by Meredith can be placed in the Needleworks Universe, but this Cowboys vs. Aliens story could just as easily be a lost adventure from Year One. I’m not saying anything else about it. It’s terrific, go read it. There’s a new Message from Moonbase Alpha story called Boundaries. This is a universe I really want to explore more, and someday I will. But this is a good start. There’s an Energized story called Losing Sleep and a Florida Universe story called Carry a Cane. The FU story is absolutely true. It happened to someone I know and I just blatantly took the story he told me and used the FU characters. It fit too perfectly. Enjoy!
p.s. I've also added a link to the Alpha 2012 Convention in LA. Please support the gathering. I'd love to see you there.

During this week I will be migrating the majority of the site to my own web domain: www.ellenceleste.com. With an entrance to the site left on www.space1999.net. There will be a couple of new stories uploaded. (More on that as they are uploaded in a day or so.) Another goal is to remove flash buttons from the site and replace with something else, either text or small graphics. I've become a pod person, and want to be able to access the site more easily with an ipod or ipad. If you are trying to access the videos on an ipod, they are embedded from YouTube and will be better viewed with the YouTube app.

It's been a while since my last update, so I've finally taken the Christmas picture down. Nothing more jolly than a Christmas tree on Alpha, but it was time to give it a rest. Three new stories this time, two in the Florida Universe: Satin Sheets and Train. Both are Melissa and Alan stories. I know that puts us a little out of balance with J/H and A/M stoires, but that's where the muse led us this time. Satin Sheets fills out that first Thanksgiving weekend that Alan and Melissa spend at Miller's Bluff. Train takes place after the Alphans return from the moon and is really (almost) a family friendly story. The train is real, and one of my favorite spots on Earth, and there will be photos to go with the story. Unfortunately, the Carter family did not pose for any of the pictures, they guard their children's privacy. We also have the final segment of Meredith's 'Enigma' saga, Cypher. If you've read the existing ones, the ending will knock your socks off. If you haven't read it yet, you should.
There is a new link on the links page to Cate's fanfiction. She has some really interesting ideas and writes well too. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. And while you're checking out the links, go to David Welle's page and hook up with Bridge Two. It's long and detailed and a fascinating look at the inner workings of Alpha.

It's the holidays again. We have a new picture of Alphan Christmas Cheer to grace our cover page, and a number of new stories for your reading pleasure. Barbara Conrady and her friend Barbara Schmid are sharing a pair of stories that were originally written in German and translated to English by Barbara Conrady. Schmid's The Decision and Conrady's Magic Medicine are availiable both in English and the original German. You may choose your language for each of these stories on the title page for The Decision
One Moment of Inhumanity is a stand-alone Sandra/Alan story.
Meredith adds to the Needleworks Universe with Sines and Letters Home and to the Dark Threads Universe with Now You See Them, where Kano is having a problem with critters from the planet invading his beloved computer. Meredith also comes up with a completely new angle in a new universe. I won't give anything away, but I think you'll find Enigma fascinating and poignant. There are two stories here. Read Acts of Reparation first, then Droplets.
And Robert and Susan Thompson are up to monkey business in Turquoise.
Happy Holidays. Our Holiday eagle is again gracing the main page to put everyone in a festive mood. And Colleen's latest contribution, Waiting for the Light, has been added.
It’s been a while since I’ve done an update. And I actually did a small update during the summer but did not post to this news spot. In case you didn’t find the new stuff, I’ll recap here.
In June, I uploaded some terrific new stuff from Trish and Barbara as well as a newcomer to the website, Craig Rohloff. Trish’s latest is called Psychon in Training and is a terrific look at Maya’s childhood. Barbara has finished the long-awaited next installment in her Helena/Lee saga began in Matter of Life and Love. The new story is Therapy, a great addition to the timeline. Craig gives us a good technical yarn involving Eagles in Hard Landing. Hope you’re working on more for us Craig!
I’ve been cleaning out the virtual closet in the Florida Universe and added a bunch of new goodies from all over the timeline. In order on the timeline are Milk, Cookies and Mnemonics, Melluchan, Rocky Mountain High, Great Expectorations, Anime-ted and Word of Caution. Melluchan and Anime-ted are linked stories, the first involving some of Melissa’s wild past and the second how it comes back to haunt her. Mnemonics takes place during Helena’s first year in med school, Rocky Mountain High and Great Expectorations are John/Helena stories, and Word of Caution concerns a mother/daughter talk between Helena and Tori.
And speaking of hauntings, it’s nearly Halloween here and Meredith has treated us with a terrific little Y1 universe story Ghosts and Ghoulies. Also up is the next in Meredith’s “Six” saga, Six Years, a very satisfying conclusion to the series and look for Matter of Trust, embedded in Six Years. There are also two new Needleworks Universe stories: Shoots & Ladders and Convergence. And Labor Day is a new addition to the Dark Threads Universe.
Remember the terrific little story Embie about Simmond’s cat? Well Cricket has come up with a related story about our favorite character to hate in Journey Home. And boy does Cricket write him well! A fascinating look at what might have become of Simmonds if he hadn’t died in year 1.
Michael has also gifted us with a new story and an update. Victor Bergman’s Return takes us in to the future with our Alphans. Helena’s Arklog from the Another Option Universe has been updated with new details as well. Enjoy.
More stories up today. They include two from the Florida Universe, Ships Passing and Rocky Mountain High. There are also two from the Needleworks Universe: Justifiable Error and Boys Night Out. There are also two stand alone stories, Coyoli, a lower decks story, and Embie, an unusual point of view inspired by a very unusual set of pictures.
This is the first of several updates to get a whole list of new stories uploaded. I hope to have the list cleared by Easter, so check back over the next couple of weeks. First up is "Eye of the Beholder", a stand-alone story. Also completely new is Meredith's Six Weeks and Six Months, t wo linked stories in an alternate Year Two universe. I think you'll enjoy the modifications she's made. A new Florida Universe story, "Paybacks" is up and a new Robert & Susan story, "Whole New World" is also ready. Stay tuned for further updates.
There are a number of new stories up tonight. Several more stories in the Dark Threads universe: “Daydreams,” “Sheeps Clothing,” and “Roving” as well as a story from Dark Thread’s Earth: “Lakeside”. From Amanda’s files is a New Year’s Eve treat called “Quiet Celebration”. New in the Florida Universe is “John’s Look”. In Energized there is another of the cat Mreet’s saga “Cat’s Tale” and a story called “Master Piece”.
More Needleworks Universe stories are up this week, along with a 'pocket' alternate universe we've called "Dark Threads". 'Dark Threads' and 'Colors' take place on the newly discovered planet of Terra Alpha while 'Sunset Conversations' takes place on Earth.
New stories for the Needleworks Universe up today include Scavenger Hunt
Where did summer go? Yes, there are more stories to load, but my laptop has spent most of the summer traveling back and forth to California for repair after the puppy chewed the power cord. Then there were software issues to deal with and a new school year to start. So, here are the first of a number of stories I had intended to get up over the summer. Please welcome a new author with two terrific stories. Patsy's Page currently has Unguarded Moments, a very touching short story, and Signals, a short, but fun story I know you'll enjoy. Let's hope these are the first of many entertaining stories. Also, I have made a new page just for Amanda's stories. Amanda has contributed several stories in Energized and the Florida Universes. Now she's opening up her archives and we're putting up some really terrific stories that have only been available in print in the past. Some, but not all, are adult rated. I know you'll enjoy them over and over, as I do. An alternate ending to "Another Time Another Place" has also been added. "Another Option" was written by myself and my husband. It first appeared at the convention zine for Earthbound in 2005. There is one more part written that will be put up soon. It's always a joy to write with Michael and I hope to explore this universe more fully in the future.
Two more stories added this evening, both in the Needleworks Universe. Child's Play, and The Yarn Shop. There are a number of new stories coming up in this universe, so if you like to read them in order, you might want to way a few days.
Welcome to a new year and some terrific new fanfic! Completely new to the website is a new universe of fanfic by Meredith Kausch. We're calling it the Needleworks Universe. So named for the hobby of Sandra Benes (take a look at the opening scenes of Space Brain.) The stories start out prior to Breakaway and most focus on Alan and Sandra. Several of these stories have appeared in the International Nick Tate Fan Club newsletter, and a couple more have been submitted for publication there. Those stories will not join the website until after first publication in the fan club newsletter. The backstory for Sandra is especially fun, so don't miss these.
Meredith has also contributed two new stories to the Energized Universe, from the point of view of a cat! This intrepid descendent of the cat brought to Alpha in Summer of Love debuts in "Mreet", then makes an initial exploration of Alpha in "A New Breed of Alphan". Also new in the Energized Universe is "Winter with Discontent", a story by me about the first winter on Loki. All are marked in the timeline with the "new" flag.
The Florida Universe returns from vacation. You may not notice any difference, but the Koenig-Carter-Thompson clan are well rested and ready for mischief. There is one new story, "Undressing Helena", inspired by Barbara Conrady during a terrific Skype call, and one rewritten story, "Heat".
There's also a small stand-alone story called "After Arkadia" by Dorothy Burton, inspired by those new Network DVDs that we all got for Christmas. So, if you're not reading fanfic, go watch a DVD and write some!
There are some new, and some published before in this upload. The Florida Universe has two new stories. Shelter from the Storm was written after the fourth of last year's hurricanes, so it's fitting that it was prepared for upload while Dennis was roaring by. In the story, John and Helena cope with a hurricane hitting Houston just after they purchase a new house there. On a Bet is an Alan/Melissa story.
Several Stand alone stories are also new at this time. Both "To Bee" and "Point of View" are stories that were inspired by a STTNG episode about the junior officers on the ship. They were part of the "Unsung Heroes" section of a zine produced for the 2001 Spacecon. More of the unsung heroes may be added at a later date. "Fresh Start" and "Might Have Beens" have also been in paper zines at one time or another. "Might Have Beens" takes place at a convergence of two alternate universes, one where Breakaway never happened.
A new story by Colleen is in the 'stand alone' section. "Lost in Margaritaville" is a story inspired by the Florida Universe. Although it doesn't fit in the timeline of the Florida Universe, you can consider it part of a parallel Florida Universe. The story takes place prior to Breakway.
The Links section is finally up and running. All have some kind of connection to Space:1999. If you would like to suggest a link to add to this section, email me at ellen99@tampabay.rr.com.
Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this. Moving can really turn a person's life upside down, but we may soon have a high-speed connection again, thank goodness! There's a number of new items to read here. First, a little story by Barbara Conrady called "The Secret" which really tickled my fancy. It's a stand-alone, but you never know when someone might come up with a sequel. There are two stand-alones by me: "The Search" first appeared as a serial in the Nick Tate Fan Club Newsletter; "Stressed Out" is a reaction to a couple of stories I read where John and Helena enjoy a quiet candlelit moment. Candles on Alpha seem like such a bad idea. Added to our Robert & Susan stories are "Lakeside" and "Fiji Valentine". A terrific story from Lulamae is All That Can Matter.
There are two new stories given to us by Sandra Sprecker. Both are written from the point of view of an intern stranded on Alpha. The Interns is our first introduction to the lives of four young people who thought they would have only a brief tour of duty on the moonbase. The Discovery puts the interns in action again. I'm looking forward to more stories in this series.
The UFO:1999 guys are at it again. I'm looking forward to seeing some new stuff next year at Earthbound:2005. For now, take a look at the pics and narrative about making the UFO:1999 episodes already extant in "The Making of UFO:1999"
Two stories have been uploaded tonight. Meeting of Minds is a combination of alternate universes where four different John Koenigs meet to discuss their problems. In the Name of Love is a new Robert & Susan story which takes place immediately after Some Rain.
By popular demand! The script for Episode 1 of UFO:1999 has been added. "Breakified" completes the collection of UFO:1999 scripts at this time. Let us know if you want to see more!
Stories inspired by Johnny Byrne's Message from Moonbase Alpha create another alternate universe by Paula Austin and Ellen Lindow. Four new stories are included here.
Uploaded to the web for the first time, a three part story that first appeared in the Breakaway zine in 1999: Coming Home. The Alphans continue to search for a new home even after a number of years in space.
Two stories by Broomhildi, Shattered Sunsets and Zantor are standalone stories with ties to the episodes Bringers of Wonder and Earthbound.
In the Energized Universe, Paula Austin's "Smoldering Embers" is a terrific edition to the story of Alan and Emma.
New Robert & Susan stories: "Oh! Mexico" where Susan goes on vacation with her girlfriends, with surprising results; "Fathers" has Robert coming to grips with his own father's abandonment: "Some Rain" gives all the family a scare when Susan takes on a new horse; "Special Delivery" is a very special New Year celebration for the Thompsons, and Paging Dr. Thompson continues the healing process for the couple.
In the main part of the Florida Universe, Prom Problems gets Tori through her Senior Prom, Christmas Bonus is a short Alan and Melissa story about their business, Walking it Off is an even shorter Alan and Melissa story from the early days of their marriage. Disk Switch is a John and Helena story about a disagreement over a recreational video John talked Helena into making.
UFO:1999 is open for business. Don't shoot Ellen over this one, she's just the webmaster (and fan club president)! These parody scripts were made to be filmed. Ellen actually has a copy of the first two episodes. Not something just anyone can lay claim to. (Check out the cursor trail here! ;)
I've been playing with trailing cursors. You should have noticed some pictures on the index page as well as a little treat on Valentine's Day. Also up tonight is "Devil's Planet - Missing Scene", which has been in print in the Main Mission 2000 fanzine. I'll be putting up some other stories that have been in print soon. This story is a lead-in for the series of stories written by Ellen & Paula which were inspired by "Message from Moonbase Alpha", shown first at Breakaway Convention in Los Angeles, September, 1999. More of these stories will be up soon. Two new Florida Universe stories have been added. Both are Alan/Melissa stories: Dialogue - Camping and Old Truck. (for those of you who read Robert and Susan stories, yes, this is the same truck.)
Only 2 up yesterday! More to come. This morning's addition is two new Robert & Susan stories: Bermuda and Isle be Seeing You. Also, stand alone stories: What Ails You (mature themes), Pet Rock
New look for the main page. Link to the Mission Impossible Website updated. The counter has been restored. Let's see how many stories I can get up today. There are a bunch.
Stand alone stories: Witching Hour
Matter of Life and Love/Florida Universe crossover: Melissa Matters
